The Last Journey In Junior High

     We are now in the last quarter of school year 2023-2024, it’s the perfect moment to pause, think and reflect on the growth, challenges, and accomplishments that marked these final months. This quarter is full of surprises and it is a challenging period as a student, as it filled with final assessment and deadlines for various activities and performance tasks. Although every quarter are important for students, fourth quarter specifically serves as an essential phase where it becomes a stepping stone in shaping a students future academic and personal ambitions and development.

    Throughout this quarter, my academics was enhanced a lot by diving deep into subjects that I was previously not interested in. For example, in History where I would always find it hard to maintain my concentration, I unexpectedly got engrossed in one of the sections discussing the current political movements. This greatly changed my outlook towards history and I realized how important it is by looking at these societies in terms of how they were influenced by these movements.

    In various subjects, group activities were particularly instrumental in helping me apply theoretical knowledge in more practical settings. Working collaboratively, I learned to be more practical in my approach to problem-solving, prioritizing efficiency and seeking solutions that had immediate, tangible benefits. These experiences not only solidified my understanding of complex concepts but also highlighted the importance of teamwork and communication.

    Moreover, they offer me a better understanding of what drives people to behave as they do. Not only that but also, it made me realize why I need to be careful about trust issues with others. Consequently, my skills in relationship building and negotiation needed for both educational and work environments were developed due to the importance of these experiences in my life.

    This is the last part to my junior high journey, of course, it is full of challenges, particularly the overpowering multitude of deadlines and vigorous preparation needed for final exams. There was great pressure to juggle time schedules properly and accomplish highly.

    To tackle these challenges, I adopted a more stringent scheduling system, prioritizing tasks more effectively and balancing my academic responsibilities with downtime to avoid burnout. I also made it a point to seek feedback from teachers regularly, which was instrumental in clearing up any confusion and reinforcing my learning, keeping me well-prepared and confident for my exams.

    Moving forward, I am committed to sustaining the organizational habits I've developed, as they have been crucial in managing my academic workload and personal life. Moreover, I plan to continue actively seeking knowledge, both in formal educational settings and through personal exploration, especially in areas that challenge my current understanding or spark my curiosity.

This school year was a period filled with meaningful achievements and important lessons. Despite the many challenges that I faced, the tactics that I applied were able to aid me achieve my goals and will still play a significant role as I move through academic life. My growth during this time gives me joy because I am sure it will help me in future academic pursuits.

Every Dream Begins With A Dreamer

      “Every dream begins with a dreamer”.  Imagine yourself entering a world where your dreams not only meet reality but surpass it. As I navigate my journey from the classroom to the courtroom, the image of my future self grows vividly as the day passes. A decade from now, I see myself not just practicing law, but excelling in it, driven by a commitment to justice and community improvement. Yet, beneath this excitement, there’s this hidden silent whisper of apprehension, the fear of growing up.

    In ten years, I see myself as a thriving lawyer who has effectively combined ambition with humanitarian values. By gaining recognition for my outstanding work in the legal profession, I strive to take on leading roles in important cases that push me intellectually and make a positive difference in the world. I can envision my 10 years old self proudly smiling as I am slowly but surely fulfilling all of my childhood dreams “malayo pa pero malayo na”.

    My dreams are exciting, but facing the reality of growing up comes with a heavy load of duties that can feel like too much at times. The rush to become an adult pushes me to leave behind the carefree nature of being a kid and enter a realm where every choice has consequences. "Growing up means letting go of some fantasies, to gain new perspectives," captures the bittersweet truth of growing older, revealing the sacrifices and newfound understanding that come with the transition into adulthood.

    Achieving financial independence is fundamental to my future goals. I dream a future where "freedom" is more than just a theory but a reality. This freedom would enable me to make decisions that go beyond financial concerns. I see myself using my financial independence to stand up for those who aren't heard and support movements that strive for legal changes and fair access to justice. While I have these career ambitions, personal satisfaction is still important to me. I aim to create a life full of meaningful experiences and connections, finding a balance between my professional life and adventures that remind me why life is so precious. Just like the line "And each road leads you where you wanna go," I believe that every choice and every effort I make sets me further on the path towards a fulfilling and accomplished life.

    However, the journey toward achieving your dreams might be long and fraught with challenges, but the pursuit is what brings color and meaning to our lives. It is a poignant reminder of the inescapable growth we must all face: "You cannot swim for new horizons until you have courage to lose sight of the shore".

    So, let's dream big, let’s work hard, and let’s make the impossible possible. The future awaits, and it's ours to shape, even as we acknowledge the fears and struggles that come with growing up. Let's embrace them as part of our journey, turning each challenge into a stepping stone toward our dreams.

To The World You Are Just A Mother, But To me You Are My World

 

    “Mother” is a single word that embodies a world of love, sacrifice, and limitless affection. For everything I am today, my mother’s love showed me the way. She means the world to me. She’s always been there for me; she gave up her dreams and sacrificed a lot just to raise me and my brother. Every morning, she made sure we were prepared for school, and every night, she comforted us through our fears. Her presence has always been a steady source of support for us. I can still hear her laughter in my most cherished memories, and her advice continues to shape how I navigate life's obstacles. To my mama, my friend, Thank you for everything!

    Celebrating Mother’s Day is one of the many ways to show gratitude to the loveliest masterpiece of the heart of God and the blessing that no one can replace our “Mother”. It is a very special day to our mother. Celebrated on the second Sunday of May, Mother's Day in the Philippines is deeply rooted in family values, cultural heritage, and the strong bond between mothers and their children.

    In our Filipino culture, there are so many traditional ways on how to celebrate this very special day. One is the gift giving. Filipinos expresses their love and gratitude for mothers through giving gifts. this is the most common way, Handwritten letters, personalized crafts, or even simple gestures of service are often more meaningful than extravagant presents. After all, it's the thought and love that count the most. 

    Second is the “special meal”, Filipino Families frequently come together to enjoy a special meal, whether it's a homemade feast or a delicious meal at a beloved eatery. Food holds great significance in Filipino traditions, and what better way to show appreciation for our mothers than by lovingly preparing their favorite dishes?

     But perhaps the spending quality time with the family is the most cherished gift that our mothers could have ever wished for. It is the time where the family a bond, talk with each other, reminiscing memories and most importantly it's is the time where family can create a new and beautiful memories that your mother will cherished through her lifetime. it's the intangible moments that hold the most meaning. t's the simple act of holding her hand and says “I love you” or “thank you" for everything she has done and continues to do for us.

     It is good to make your mother happy and celebrate Mother’s Day, but we must also remember that “Mother’s Day” is not the only time where you can show your gratitude towards them. Our Mother deserves to be treated special every day, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, seven days a week, every hour every minute. She is more precious than any other jewelry, and nothing desire can compare with her.

Be The Game Changer

 

    “Change” a simple word but holds a huge impact to human. Humankind has a complicated relationship with change. In a world filled with uncertainty, the idea of change can seem heartbreaking. Yet in this chaos, lies an unchangeable truth: changes start within ourselves.

    We all want changes to happen in our lives especially our lifestyle, don’t we? But how? When the world become so cruel to us, when things don’t go as we want it to be, when things or others go against us. I’m sure we all do the same thing, to wish for a change to happen for the better. But how can change happen if you’re not even doing anything. You can’t change the world if you’re scared to go out in your comfort zone. Remember fear is temporary, regret is forever.

    Be a warrior, not a worrier. Change can start small, you can begin in acknowledging small changes in your life are necessary for growth and to the world. Instead of being consumed by worries and fears, embracing a warrior mindset allows us to confront challenges head-on and step out of our comfort zones. 

    One of the most effective ways we can initiate change is through education. Knowledge is essential in making progress in the world. Through learning the different and important issues, we can get a better understanding of the problems our society is facing. With the help of these knowledge, we can think of possible solutions and work towards making a real difference. We are now in the modern era, our focus is often captured by technology, especially by gadgets like cellphones. Despite this, engaging in activities like using app to educate ourselves about the environment can be crucial first step towards understanding and addressing the issues around us. 

    Change begins within ourselves, but it flourishes through collective action, empathy, and a commitment to lifelong learning and growth. We are the architects of our own destiny. Through embracing changes within ourselves, we open up a spark that can ignite a wildfire positive transformation in the world around us. You, Me, We, lets us all take up this mantle of responsibility, for the change and the new beginning.

The Story Behind "Araw ng Kagitingan"

In the Philippines, April 9th is a special day known as Araw ng Kagitingan or Day of Valor. This day is a time for honoring the bravery, selflessness, and courage of Filipino soldiers who fought in World War II. Many brave lives were sacrificed during this difficult period in our past while defending the freedom and independence of our nation. Apart from its historical importance, Araw ng Kagitingan also symbolizes the strong spirit of resilience and love for country that characterizes the Filipino people.

The Day of Valor, known as Araw ng Kagitingan in Filipino, can be traced back to April 9, 1942. It was a time when Filipino and American soldiers bravely fought against the invading Japanese forces in Bataan. Despite facing overwhelming odds, these courageous men stood their ground for months, facing tremendous challenges like starvation, disease, and continuous enemy assaults. Their unyielding resolve and unity in times of difficulty truly showcased the genuine spirit of bravery. The soldiers' relentless determination and unity in the midst of challenging circumstances demonstrated the genuine bravery. The defense of Bataan went beyond a mere military operation, it showcased the unbeatable spirit of the Filipino nation. It reflected the qualities of bravery, selflessness, and unity in the face of hardship. Despite facing extreme difficulties during the prolonged siege, the soldiers persevered through unimaginable challenges, never losing their determination. Their valor inspired hope and rallied the nation behind them, forging an unbreakable bond between soldiers and civilians alike. The legacy of the defenders of Bataan continues to resonate today, serving as a reminder of the extraordinary feats that can be achieved through courage and determination.

This upcoming Day of Valor, we remember not only the brave soldiers of Bataan and Corregidor, but also the revolutionaries who fought against our Spanish colonizers, the resistance in Manila against British invaders, martial law freedom fighters in the 70s and 80s, and our modern-day heroes who brave the daily stresses of life just to survive and make ends meet.

To truly pay tribute to our valiant soldiers, we must keep remembering our bloody past, acknowledge the valor of those who fought for us, and vow to defend our democratic freedom against those who will encroach upon our constitutional rights This is how we can not only remember the valor of our heroes but also emulate it.

 The bravery exemplified by the Bataan heroes acts as a beacon of hope, inspiring us to maintain justice and freedom in the face of hardship and to treasure our independence. In addition to honoring the past on this Araw ng Kagitingan, we should reaffirm our dedication to creating a brighter future. We ought to take courage from the sacrifices made by our ancestors and endeavor to build a society based on solidarity, justice, and integrity. Let us continue the flame of courage, determination, and patriotism as we pause to honor this day. By doing so, we can make sure that the sacrifices made in the past are never forgotten and that the spirit of valor keeps shining on the road to a better tomorrow.

Our Incredible Journey!

     Welcome to our blog, where we share the exciting story of our research project called "Bringing Back the Good Vibes of Don Dimas Querubin." Come with us as we explore Caoayan, Ilocos Sur, to find the special things hidden there and solve some problems in the lovely barangay of Don Dimas Querubin.

 

    We were curious about Don Dimas Querubin, so we decided to investigate. With our team ready and eager, we set out to explore.

 

    Walking around Don Dimas, we met friendly people and learned about its past. We talked to older folks who know a lot about the village's history. We proceeded to the parish's office. They said that they have a document about the history of the parish located on Don Dimas.

 

  

  We discovered that Don Dimas Querubin has some issues, like garbage being thrown everywhere and not enough lights on the streets. These problems made us sad, but they also motivated us to find solutions.

 

    During our journey, we found cool things like old buildings and stories about the village. Each new discovery made us more determined to help make Don Dimas better. We brainstormed ways to fix the garbage problem and make the streets safer. We talked to people and came up with ideas to make Don Dimas a cleaner and happier place.

 

    Our adventure may be ending, but our work isn't over. We'll keep thinking of ways to help Don Dimas Querubin thrive.

 

    

    As our community-based research journey comes to an end, we have developed a greater appreciation for Don Dimas Querubin's unique history and the lively culture it reflects. Interacting with suppliers, artists, and craftspeople on our website has unveiled the tales and traditions that contribute to the particular qualities of this one-of-a-kind find. In addition to enhancing our understanding of Don Dimas's culinary legacy, our CBR adventure has given us the ability to preserve it for future generations. It's been amazing exploring Don Dimas Querubin! We want others to be motivated to care about their communities by our story. Together, let's improve Don Dimas Querubin and its surroundings!

Another War has Come to an End.

As we approach the end of the third quarter, it's a perfect time to reflect on the exciting journey of exploring HTML and engaging in community-based research. This quarter has been an exhilarating ride filled with new discoveries and memorable experiences that have truly enriched my learning.

From diving into the world of HTML and mastering its intricacies to actively participating in community-based research initiatives, this quarter has been nothing short of an adventure. Exploring the depths of HTML tags, elements, and structures has been both challenging and rewarding, as each lesson unfolded new possibilities for web design and development. Moreover, the hands-on nature of community-based research has provided unique opportunities to apply HTML skills in real-world scenarios. Collaborating with peers and community members on research projects has not only enhanced my understanding of HTML but also allowed me to contribute meaningfully to addressing community needs.

I've faced challenges in maintaining productivity and effectively managing my time. There have been instances where I've found it difficult to concentrate or complete tasks on schedule, which has been quite frustrating. This third quarter has been especially demanding with numerous tasks, quizzes, assessments, assignments, and thematic projects needing completion before the quarter's end. The absolute volume of work can feel overwhelming at times.

Despite all of these obstacles, I experienced plenty of fun activities and enjoyed doing tasks with my friends. Through these fun activities, me and my friends shared an enormous amount of laughter and happy memories together. From quirky coding challenges to making our own web design, every moment has been infused with excitement. These new experiences have not only made our class discussion enjoyable but have also fostered a sense of creativity and shared new knowledge with us.

As we wrap up the quarter, I'm grateful for the guidance and support of our mentors and educators, Mrs. Evelyn Vera Cruz and our practice teacher, Sir Angelo, who have been in
strumental in shaping our learning experiences. Their enthusiasm and dedication have inspired us to push our boundaries and strive for excellence in all endeavors.

Looking ahead, I'm excited to continue exploring the dynamic world of HTML and hone my skills to make a positive impact in both academic and community settings. With each lesson learned and experience gained, I'm confident in my ability to embark on future endeavors with enthusiasm and confidence. Here's to more adventures and learning experiences in the quarters to come!

A Day of Pride and Joy: Reflecting on ISNHS's 122nd Foundation Day

March 9 was a day filled with joy and excitement at Ilocos Sur National High School (ISNHS) as we celebrated our 122nd Foundation Day. It was a time for students, teachers, and alumni to come together and commemorate this special milestone in our school's history.

The day started with a colorful Foot Parade that showcased the creativity and unity of our school community. Each grade level had its own theme, and students dressed up in costumes representing different aspects of Ilocano culture. The streets echoed with the sound of drums and cheers as we marched through the town, inviting everyone to join in the festivities.

The fun continued with a Spectacular Field Demo that featured mesmerizing performances and a surprise drone show. As students danced and performed on the ground, synchronized drones soared above, creating beautiful formations and light displays. It was a breathtaking sight that left everyone in awe and set a new standard for future celebrations.

During lunchtime, we gathered for a delicious meal and shared stories and laughter with our teachers and classmates. There was a special corner set up for alumni, where graduates from different years reunited and reminisced about their time at ISNHS. It was heartwarming to see how the spirit of our school has remained strong over the years, bringing together old friends and new.

The day ended with an Evening of Musical Delight at the gymnasium. Students took to the stage to showcase their musical talents, and we were treated to surprise performances by local musicians and bands, some of whom were ISNHS alumni. The concert was a celebration of the diversity of talent within our school and the broader community, and it brought us all closer together.

As we reflect on ISNHS's 122nd Foundation Day, we are reminded of the importance of coming together as a community to celebrate our shared history and heritage. It was a day filled with joy, laughter, and camaraderie, and we look forward to many more years of celebrating together at ISNHS.

    One of the hallmarks of ESTUDYANTEPRENEUR 2024 is its emphasis on practical learning. Students are guided through every stage of the entrepreneurial journey, from ideation and market research to product development and marketing strategies. They are equipped with mentors, resources, and a supportive community, empowering them to transform their dreams into viable business ventures. Additionally, rows of laptops are available on tables where students can play various games.

    Furthermore, we had the opportunity to visit the second floor of one of the buildings, where we watched a short film created by students from Ilocos Sur National High School.

    
Lastly, the warm hospitality of the people around us, including the teachers, left a lasting impression. Despite the bustling atmosphere with many students present, the lively interactions filled the air with laughter and conversation. We were so engaged in the moment that we almost forgot it was time to return to our classroom. With bright smiles on our faces, we made our way back, cherishing the memories created during the event.

VIGAN, Here I Come!

 

    Welcome to Vigan, a quaint city where the kindness of the Filipino people meets the grandeur of Spanish colonialism. Nestled in the heart of Ilocos Sur province, Vigan is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, honored for its vibrant culture, winding cobblestone streets, and immaculately preserved colonial architecture. But what really sets Vigan apart is its fiesta atmosphere, a celebration that embodies the character of this historic city.

    As I stepped into Vigan, I was immediately greeted by the sights and sounds of its bustling streets. Calle Crisologo, the city's most famous thoroughfare, beckoned with its rows of ancestral houses adorned with capiz windows and wooden balconies. Walking along its cobblestone paths felt like journeying back in time, surrounded by centuries-old architecture that whispered tales of bygone eras.                                                                                   
                            

    I ventured out to explore Plaza Salcedo, a historic square named after the city's founder, Juan de Salcedo. Here, I marveled at the grandeur of the St. Paul Metropolitan Cathedral, a stunning example of earthquake-baroque architecture. Nearby, Plaza Burgos welcomed me with its lively atmosphere, where locals and visitors alike gathered to savor authentic Ilocano delicacies and shop for souvenirs.

    The heart of Vigan's fiesta beats with the rhythm of parades, marching bands, and street dancing, creating a kaleidoscope of colors and sounds that captivate the senses. Every year, as the third week of January approaches, every Bigueño gets delighted. Numerous educational institutions as well as the different barangays in Vigan City are frantic and occupied with getting ready for various events and competitions.

                                   
                                       

    As the sun rose, the streets of Vigan came alive with the sound of drums and brass instruments, heralding the start of the grand parade. Floats adorned with flowers and streamers snaked their way through the cobblestone streets, each one a testament to the creativity and ingenuity of the local community. Marching bands from nearby towns added to the festive atmosphere, their lively tunes echoing off the colonial facades as they marched in perfect harmony. Spectators lined the streets, waving banners and cheering as the procession passed by, creating an atmosphere of joy and camaraderie.

    Amidst the parade, street dancers dressed in colorful costumes moved to the beat of traditional music, their graceful movements telling stories of love, triumph, and resilience. From the graceful sway of the Tinikling to the energetic steps of the Sayaw sa Bangko, each performance celebrated the rich cultural heritage of the Philippines, captivating audiences young and old alike.
